One person is dead after a fiery crash involving two semi’s on I-80 near Seward early Sunday morning. The Seward County Sheriff’s Department says the driver of one semi was westbound on the interstate around 3:15 a.m. and hit the back of a second semi that was disabled one the shoulder.
The collision caused the first semi to become engulfed in flames. The sheriff’s department says the driver was the only occupant and died at the scene. The driver and passenger in the disabled semi were taken to a hospital in Seward with minor injuries.
The accident is being investigated by the Seward County Sheriff’s Office. “The Seward County Sheriff’s Office and staff offer condolences to all family and friends affected by Sunday’s tragedy,” the department said in a statement.
