DeBary, FL–

A 34-year-old man has been sentenced after he reportedly shot his girlfriend’s dog in the face.

Steven Parsons was sentenced to 366 days behind bars with another three years of probation for the incident that occurred in September of last year.

Authorities say Parsons and his girlfriend got into an argument about her hiding his guns because he was intoxicated and made a comment about using them on himself.

According to the report, Parsons’ girlfriend eventually left the home because Parsons became more aggressive after she hid his guns but called authorities because there were children still present in the home.

Authorities found an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old who were visibly upset but unharmed.

Officials, however, noticed blood trailing throughout the home.

Authorities were then “greeted by a pit bull mix,” who had a noticeable bullet wound between its eyes and was bleeding heavily.

Parsons was taken into custody on animal cruelty charges.

The dog has since made a full recovery.
