YOU MAY REMEMBER AMY JONES AND HER DAUGHTER AVA WERE HIT BY AN ACCUSED INTOXICATED DRIVER. THEY WERE IN TOWN FOR A YOUTH BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. DAD, TREY WAS KILLED.

More than a month later, the mother and daughter who survived a deadly crash in downtown Louisville in July are on track to return home to Kansas this weekend. A post on the Jones Family Updates Facebook group says mother Amy Jones had surgery Monday to repair a wound on her leg, and it's expected to be the last surgery she will need in Louisville.The post said the doctor called the surgery a success.Ava and Amy Jones were hit by an accused intoxicated driver last month. Ava's father, Trey, was also hit by the driver, but did not survive.The Jones family were in town for the Run 4 the Roses basketball tournament. Ava is listed as a top 100 basketball player by ESPN and is committed to playing at the University of Iowa. In lieu of the incident, Iowa said they would honor her scholarship whether or not she is able to play again.The driver accused in the crash, Michael Hurley, is facing a murder charge.
