Victims ID'd In Fatal Baltimore County Crash

Baltimore County Police are continuing to investigate a fatal crash that ejected two people from the vehicle, authorities say.

Elvis Espinoza, 20, and Salvador Melara, 21, were killed in the crash that occurred along Cranbrook Road just east of Greenside Drive shortly before 2 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 14, according to Baltimore County police.

Investigation revealed that the driver was traveling eastbound on Cranbrook Road when the vehicle went off the road, striking a fire hydrant and several trees before overturning.

The driver and rear passenger were ejected from the vehicle, police said, while the front passenger who was seat belted at the time of the crash remained in the vehicle.

Espinoza was pronounced dead at the scene. Melara was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The 22-year-old seat belted passenger was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  

The circumstances surrounding this crash remain under investigation by members of the Baltimore County Police Department Crash Team.
