Chemical mixing accident at Kentucky Toyota plant prompts evacuation

BREAKING NEWS. GOOD AFTERNOON TO YOU ON JENNIFER BAILEYS AT THIS HOUR, A HAZMAT TEAM REMAINS AT THE TOYOTA PLANT IN GEORGETOWN FOLLOWING AN EVACUATION THIS MORNING. GEORGETOWN IS IN SCOTT COUNTY. THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR SAYS THE SITUATION IS EVOLVING AND IT CHEMICALS AT ITS INVOLVING CHEMICALS AT THE AUTO PLANT PROMPTED THE EVACUATION AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE. WE’RE TOLD TWO CHEMICALS WERE ACCIDENTAL MIXED IN THE PAINT AREA OF THE PLANT AND THIS CAUSED SOME SORT OF CHEMICAL RELEASE OF A SOME SORT OF TYPE OF GAS. Part of the Toyota Plant in Georgetown, Kentucky was evacuated Monday due to an accidental chemical mixing.A spokesperson from Scott County Emergency Management, Michael Hennigan, said there was an accidental mixing of two chemicals in the paint plant area, and that caused the release of some sort of gas.The gas was contained to the area, but they had to evacuate part of the plant. One person was taken to Georgetown Hospital as a precaution, he said. No other injuries were reported.We're told there are hazmat crews on the scene.
