A New Jersey man was clocked at 147 mph on Interstate 81 in Smyth County; he has been charged after the high speed crash closed part of Main Street in Marion.
According to the Virginia State Police, Joel German, 27, of New Jersey, has been charged with reckless driving.
German was not wearing a seatbelt, authorities say.
The crash still remains under investigation.

A portion of main street in Downtown Marion is closed today, and a building no longer stable.
This comes after a vehicle involved in a high-speed chase crashed through the front.

A town spokesperson says a car crashed into the building around 6:35 a.m. Monday morning.
We are told the vehicle had exited interstate 81 after being involved in a high-speed pursuit with Virginia State Police.
The vehicle then traveled through downtown at an extremely high rate of speed before hitting the building.
The suspects were arrested.
Structural engineers on site say the building is no longer stable, according to the town.
A portion of main street will be closed at least through today, according to town officials.
