CLAY TOWNSHIP — A Dayton man died last week in a fiery crash on I-70 eastbound in Clay Twp.

Michael Rauch, 50, was identified as the driver killed in the crash on Aug. 10, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Rauch was heading eastbound on I-70 in a Nissan NV Cargo van when he drove off the left side of the road and hit the end of a guardrail.

The van continued into the grassy median and hit an overhead traffic sign post near State Route 49. Rauch was ejected from the van and the van caught on fire.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Sgt. Ryan Purpura said in a media release Monday morning.
