Altoona used the long ball in Sunday’s series finale in Binghamton as the Curve beat the Rumble Ponies, 6-1.
Jared Triolo kicked off the power surge with a solo home run in the first – his seventh of the season. Blake Sabol and Andres Alvarez hit two more in the fourth inning to bring home three runs, and Endy Rodriguez hit his second AA home run in the fifth. Malcom Nunez topped off the Curve’s scoring in the eighth after driving in Rodriguez on a sacrifice fly.
Luis Ortiz turned in another quality start for Altoona. While he didn’t factor into the decision, Ortiz allowed just one earned run on three hits while tallying five strikeouts through four innings. The quartet of Nick Dombkowski, Emmanuel Mejia, Bear Bellomy and Collin Selby closed the game with five innings of scoreless relief.
The Curve have off today and will welcome Harrisburg to Altoona tomorrow night for the first of a six-game series.
