The 21st Heritage Music Blues Fest kicked off this weekend. Promoted as a weekend of award-winning blues. The festival features two stages -- a main stage with blues music award winners and up-and-coming IBC solo/duo and band winning acts. With a second stage dedicated to local and regional artists from W.Va, OH, PA and MD.
“You got to go to the blues fest," said Frank Figaretti. "This is the finest festival that happens during the course of the summer here at the waterfront."
The Bluesfest has always provided a great lineup of music. something producer of the festival Bruce Wheeler says he enjoys putting together,
"I don't know if it gets more special,” Heritage Blues Fest director Bruce Wheeler said. “I always think it's special. We started it in 2001. so this is actually the 22nd year but we had to take a year off like everyone else for covid."
Not only does the festival provide great music, but many food trucks, and fun too.
"Friends, comradery, good music. you get to dance if you want to,” Figaretti said.
People travel from all over to enjoy the festival, some coming back each and every year.
"From Clarksburg WV, I came up here to listen to some good music,” David patsy said. “It is probably our 6th year. It is always a good time. great line up and its close. It's right here in West Virginia. It is beautiful."
All in attendance are already looking forward to next year's festival. one they hope to see stay in wheeling for a long time.
