NOPD is investigating a shooting involving a male, female and a dog where a female victim was declared deceased at the scene.

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating after a shooting in the Tulane-Gravier area killed a woman and injured a man and a dog. NOPD said on Sunday the shooting was reported at the intersection of Canal and North Derbigny streets. Around 4:51 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to the shooting. When officers arrived they found a woman seated in the driver's seat of a crashed vehicle at the intersection of Canal and North Claiborne Avenue. A man was also found lying on the street corner. Both people were shot, according to police. NOPD said the woman was declared dead on the scene, and the man was taken to an area hospital by EMS. A dog was also found suffering from a gunshot wound. The dog was taken to LASPCA for treatment. Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. Around 4:51 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to the shooting.

When officers arrived they found a woman seated in the driver's seat of a crashed vehicle at the intersection of Canal and North Claiborne Avenue.

A man was also found lying on the street corner. Both people were shot, according to police.

NOPD said the woman was declared dead on the scene, and the man was taken to an area hospital by EMS.

A dog was also found suffering from a gunshot wound. The dog was taken to LASPCA for treatment.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.
