Louisville Metro Police have charged a Louisville woman with murder in connection with a deadly fiery crash that shut down the Watterson Expressway for several hours early Sunday morning.
Police have arrested 42-year-old Maria Lara.
Arrest records say Lara had been drinking prior to rear-ending a second vehicle at a high rate of speed. That crash caused the second vehicle to catch on fire, trapping the occupant inside.
The Jefferson County Coroner's office has also released the name of the man killed in the crash.
The victim was identified as 33-year-old Dominique Johnson.
The incident was called in just after 4 a.m. It happened in the eastbound lanes of the Watterson.
The crash closed all lanes on the Watterson at Breckenridge Lane for about five hours.
The lanes opened back up at about 9 a.m.
