A family party in West Jordan devolved into a fight early Sunday morning after an uninvited guest showed up, police said.

The incident happened shortly before 4:45 a.m. in the area of 3300 West and 6700 South.

Sgt. Brian Schaff with the West Jordan Police Department said at least one person who wasn't invited to the family gettogether came to the event.

It's possible there were other unexpected guests as well, Schaff said.

Police didn't release details on what the relationship was between the uninvited people and the family.

A physical fight broke out after the additional guest or guests arrived, though police didn't specify if it was the guests who escalated the situation.

No details were given on what led to the dispute.

At some point during the altercation, someone began using a knife. Police do not know who introduced the weapon, though.

Three men in their late 20s to early 30s were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Schaff said.

He added that there is no certainty that the injuries were knife-related.

It's unclear how many people were at the event, or if any of them were possibly inebriated. It's also unknown if anyone was arrested or cited in connection to the incident.
