A teen has died after being shot in ambush at Birmingham gas station

Police say he was shot by a group of people at a Shell station on Messer Airport Highway.

Birmingham police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old who was shot Friday night at a gas station.Detectives say he was ambushed by a group of people just before 6 p.m. at a Shell station in the 4000 block of Messer Airport Highway.Officers arrived to find Alfred Lorenzo Jenkins, Jr. unresponsive in the doorway of the business.Birmingham Fire and Rescue crews arrived and rushed him to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Jenkins died at the hospital Saturday morning.Police say ShotSpotter registered a number of gunshots and they found multiple spent shell casings at the scene.Some of the bullets did go into the store but no one else was injured.Anyone with information about this shooting should call Birmingham PD at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
