In game two of its international trip, University of Vermont freshman TJ Hurley led the way with his team-high 17-point performance on the way to a 70-61 win over McGill University.
It was a slow start to the game, with the Redbirds leading 26-21 at the half thanks to a buzzer-beater from McGill's Haris Elezovic. He had eight points in the first half to lead all scoring.
The Catamounts came out of the locker room quickly, with Dylan Penn turning things up on the defensive end to forcer turnovers. He helped push the pace, until the fourth quarter when he went down hard on the floor. He'd be helped off the court and wouldn't return to the game.
After not making a three-pointer since the first quarter, Hurley helped range in from deep to help pull away from the Redbirds. The Freshman was responsible for five of the team's eight made three-pointers in the fourth quarter on the way to the win.
Head Coach John Becker gets one more opportunity to see what his squad filled with seven new faces is made of. That opportunity comes Sunday at 2 p.m. against the University of Quebec.
