A woman arrested in July last year by officers checking on what was described as “suspicious activity” at the Mountain Home Inn appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court recently and pled guilty to drug-related charges against her.

Forty-one-year-old Kerry Janal Sager of Mountain Home was sentenced to five years in prison.

Officers from the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force arrested Sager and 36-year-old William Malone of Midway.

The officers reported seeing Malone drive into the motel parking lot in a white Volvo and let himself into a room with a card key.

After a few minutes, Sager was seen getting out of the same vehicle. She went to the room Malone had entered and knocked on the door and he let her in.

Malone and Sager left the motel after about an hour and drove to the midtown location of Casey’s General Store on Highway 62/412 East.

They were taken into custody at that point. Both were on probation and Malone had an active arrest warrant issued by the Mountain Home Police Department. A person on probation is required to sign a waiver permitting warrantless searches of person and property.

After arresting Malone and Sager, officers returned to the motel and searched the room occupied by the pair. They found three plastic bags containing almost 53 grams of methamphetamine and a number of items of drug paraphernalia — including digital scales, multiple syringes and a glass smoking bong.

They also reported finding three “lines of a white crystal-like substance on the counter of the bathroom sink.

Evidence, including clothing and other personal possession, indicated that both Malone and Sager had occupied the room, according to investigators.

Sager was reported to have told officers the room was rented in her name.

At the time of the arrest, Sager was on probation in the state of Florida. She was being supervised locally after transferring here under provisions of the Interstate Compact.

Malone pled guilty to charges in two open criminal cases during a recent court session and was sentenced to five years in prison. According to electronic records maintained by the Arkansas Department of Correction, Malone is housed in the Ouachita River Corrections Unit in Malvern.
