Parker Price-Miller transported to hospital after a crash in the feature event of the Knoxville Nationals

On Saturday night, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series unloaded in Knoxville, Iowa. The half-mile of Knoxville Raceway hosted the biggest dirt sprint race of the season. The Knoxville Nationals pays $175,000 to the race winner.

Over 100 cars showed up with only 24 spots available in the feature event. Parker Price-Miller started 12th in the main event.

On lap 1, Austin McCarl led the field into turn one. Behind him, JJ Hickle jumped the right rear of Daryn Pittman. Hickle was sent flipping into the air.

Parker Price-Miller was collected in the crash. The red flag was deployed.

Initially, most of the safety team attended Hickle’s machine. Despite, a missing fuel cell and an entire front suspension, Hickle was alright.

Meanwhile, Price-Miller climbed from his machine under his own power. Immediately, he fell to the ground.

Multiple safety members diverted their attention to Price-Miller.

The driver was communicating with the safety team. However, he was placed on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital via ambulance.

The team has not issued a statement at the time of publication. This post will be updated if more information becomes available.

Knoxville Nationals Results: August 13, 2022 (World of Outlaws)

Update: August 14 (Sunday)

On Sunday afternoon the team shared the following medical update:

“Parker was transported to the hospital in Des Moines overnight,” the team statement opened.

“He does have fractures in C7 and T5. Thank God he is moving everything.”

“After seeing the Neuro and Trauma surgeons they believe it’s best to let things heal up on their own so no surgery at this time.”

“We will get him back to Indy where he will see doctors there.”

The update concluded, “He is very sore and frustrated but he is one tough guy. He’ll get through this just like everything else he’s been dealt. We appreciate everyone reaching out and continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”
