AND THE IOWA PORK PRODUCERS HAD A BIG CROWD AT THE PORK TENT THIS MORNING. SENATOR JONI ERNST WAS FLIPPING PORK CHOPS WITH GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS. ERNST ALSO CHECKED OUT ANIMALS IN THE BARN AS SHE MADE HER WAY AROUND THE FAIR GROUNDS. SHE SAYS MANY PEOPLE BROUGHT UP INFLATION IN THEIR CONVERSATION. THE COST OF FOOD, THE COST OF FUEL, ALL OF IT AS KIDS ARE GETTING READY TO GO BACK INTO THEIR SCHOOL YEAR, THE COST OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES. SO THERE’S A LOT OF FOLKS THAT ARE REALLY WORRYING ABOUT THE UPCOMING YEAR AND WHAT IT’S GOING TO BRING IF THE DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR DURING THE YEAR ALSO GOT A CHANCE TO FLEX SOME PORK CHOPS WITH IOWA PORK. A PART OF HER STATE VISIT INCLUDED SPEAKING AT THE DES MOINES REGISTER’S POLITICAL SOAPBOX THIS AFTERNOON AND REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR I WAS THIRD CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT, ZACH NUNN MADE HIS SPEECH ON THE DES MOINES REGISTER SOAPBOX TODAY. Saturday was a busy day for Iowa politicians at the State Fairgrounds.

The Iowa Pork Producers had a big crowd at the Pork Tent throughout Saturday. Senator Joni Ernst was flipping pork chops with Governor Kim Reynolds in the morning. Ernst also checked out animals in the barns. As she made her way around the fairgrounds, she says many people brought up inflation in their conversation. "The cost of food, the cost of fuel all of it. As kids are getting ready to go back into the school year, the cost of school supplies, so there are a lot of folks who are really worrying about the upcoming year and what it's going to bring," Ernst said. The Democrat candidate for governor, Deidre DeJear, also got a chance to flip some pork chops with Iowa Pork. Part of her state fair visit included speaking at the Des Moines Register's Political Soapbox this afternoon. Republican candidate for Iowa's 3rd Congressional District Zach Nunn also made his speech on that stage on Saturday. He also spoke about rising prices for Iowans. He's running against Rep. Cindy Axne, Iowa's only Democrat in Washington, D.C., Axne's turn on the Soap Box is Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
