ORION TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A suspect has been arraigned on an open murder charge for the fatal assault of a Pontiac man at the General Motors assembly plant in Orion Township.

Astrit Gjon Bushi, 48, was arraigned in an Oakland Country courtroom on Saturday.

Bushi is accused of killing Gregory Lanier Robertson, 49, at the GM Orion Assembly Plant near Silverbell and Lapeer roads.

Roberston and Bushi were working at the dock area around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when Bushi allegedly beat Robertson to death, according to Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

First responders arrived and found Robertson “unconscious and bleeding,” the sheriff's office said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene despite attempts at lifesaving measures.

Authorities located and arrested Bushi near the dock area without incident, shortly after the crime, according to the sheriff's office.

Both the victim and the suspect were employed by a cleaning service contracted by General Motors but were not GM employees.

The motive and the circumstances leading up to the fatal attack are unknown.

The sheriff's office said Bushi is believed to be from Albania and living out of his van with no permanent address.

He is being held at the Oakland County Jail without bond. He is slated to appear in court again on August 23.
