Antonio Brown on Cowboys WR Injuries: ‘Tell Jerry Jones to Call Me’

Antonio Brown has not played football in more than seven months. Since then, Brown’s name has made multiple headlines for things outside of football that include him launching a rap career and becoming an independent businessman.

In May, Brown suggested in an interview that he would not play in the NFL in the 2022 season. However, when Brown was recently approached by a TMZ reporter stating that fans wanted to see him play in the NFL again, the free agent wide receiver expressed interest in signing with the Cowboys.

“Tell Jerry Jones to call me,” Brown told TMZ Sports.

Currently, Brown is not on the radar for any team across the league. Even more, in March, the seven-time Pro Bowler indicated that he would need ankle surgery to continue his career. However, Brown has no plans to undergo the surgery without a “commitment from a team.”

“It’s a lot for a guy to go do surgery without an idea of where you gonna work, or who you gonna work for,” Brown previously told TMZ.

While Brown’s chances of playing this season seem bleak, Dallas does have a current void when it comes to depth at the wide receiver position. CeeDee Lamb is the Cowboys top target but after him, things are up in the air. Wide receivers Michael Gallup and James Washington are dealing with injuries.

Last season, Brown recorded 42 receptions for 545 yards and four touchdowns in seven games with the Buccaneers. But, it is highly unlikely that the Cowboys would take a chance on Brown.

Brown carries a ton of baggage from each of the teams he has played for: the Steelers, Raiders, Patriots and Buccaneers. The last time Brown played football, he infamously removed his uniform and exited the stadium in Week 17 during the Buccaneers’ game against the Jets, prompting his release from the franchise.
