The unidentified suspect stole the Parks Department’s Ford F-250 pickup truck at the Fred Samuel Playground at the corner of Lenox Avenue and West 139th Street around 9 p.m., when the municipal worker using the truck exited it to pick up something he dropped, police said.

The rogue driver reportedly sped off north on Lenox Avenue and started swerving across the yellow line just five blocks up on West 144th Street, where he rammed the stolen truck into a police SUV.

Two officers were mildly injured in the crash, and other police nearby arrested the driver when he tried to flee on foot.

Charges are pending against the suspect.
