Treyvius Tunstall was at DICK’s Sporting Goods at 499-64 Sunrise Highway in Patchogue attempting to buy a rifle around 3:15 p.m., police said.

Tunstall gave his identification to the employee who was helping him but then snatched it back and walked away from the counter, according to officials.

He then went to a different area of the store where he took out a machete and attacked another employee with it. Tunstall then fled the store, striking two customers with the machete on the way out, one inside the store, the other in the parking lot, cops said.

The employee who was injured was treated at the scene and later transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The two customers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Tunstall was found nearby and arrested. He was charged with first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and other weapons charges.
