BALTIMORE — Friends and family are mourning a Baltimore man as investigators look for whoever killed him in Washington, D.C.

Aryeh Wolf, 25, of Baltimore, was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon in the 5100 block of Call Place SE. He was in D.C. on business installing solar panels at an apartment building.

"The suspect walked up to him, fired multiple rounds and fled the location," said Capt. Kevin Kentish, of the Metropolitan Police Department in D.C.

Investigators still don't have a motive for the shooting. They are seeking the public's help in identifying an individual seen in surveillance video.

Wolf is described as a selfless, dedicated and caring man who was a volunteer counselor at a camp for children living with serious illness.

"He had a heart of gold. He was always upbeat. You meet him, he had a smile. He had a good word for people," said Yaakov Schwartz, principal at the Talmudical Academy of Baltimore, which Wolf attended from a young age through eighth grade.

Family and friends gathered Thursday for a funeral for Wolf. According to the "Yeshiva World," Wolf was a loving family man who leaves behind a wife and a 6-month-old child.

"This tragedy for him, for his family, his young wife and child, for his extended family, words cannot even explain, and honestly, I can't comprehend myself," Schwartz said.

In the words of one family member: "He was the kind of person every parent prays their child grows up to be."

WBAL-TV 11 News spoke Thursday afternoon with Racheli Daniel, director of Chai Lifeline Mid-Atlantic, an international children's health support network with which Wolf would volunteer.

"Aryeh was a dedicated volunteer. He worked so hard, and he gave so much of himself to help children in the community and as a counselor at our camp for children with cancer," Daniel said. "Aryeh Wolf was a star for the Mid-Atlantic Chai Lifeline office, and when we lose his optimism, and when we lose his selfless dedication and commitment to our kids, it's a huge loss, devastating."
