A Sharp County woman is currently in the Izard County Detention Center on accusations of breaking into several vehicles after being tracked by AirPods. Twenty-year-old Autumn Dailey of Hardy is facing 15 charges, including 12 felonies, with her bond set at $50,000.

According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, the first report came in around 7 Wednesday morning. A Calico Rock resident stated his firearm was missing from his vehicle parked in his carport at Grasse Street. Nearly 15 minutes later, a deputy was dispatched to take a report from a Franklin woman reporting her debit card and nearly $30 in cash were stolen from her vehicle.

Around 7:30, another Calico Rock resident, living adjacent to the Grasse Street residence, advised his girlfriend’s vehicle had been broken into. Nothing appeared to be missing, but an object had reportedly been left in the seat and was identified as a marijuana grinder containing ground bits of green leafy substance consistent with marijuana.

Later that morning at around 10, an Izard County investigator and a deputy observed a pickup truck parked in a driveway on Park Street in Calico Rock with the driver’s door left open. The homeowner claimed the door of the truck had been shut when he parked it, and the interior of his truck and another vehicle had been ransacked. The only thing appearing to have been stolen was a box of dog treats in the other vehicle.

Nearly an hour-and-a-half later, another call came from Mockingbird Lane in Calico Rock. The victim alleged her SUV had been broken into and ransacked with miscellaneous clothing and an unknown amount of coin change stolen. Her husband’s truck had also reportedly been broken into, and approximately $50 in cash were stolen.

While at the Mockingbird Lane residence, authorities were approached by a neighbor claiming his pickup truck had been broken into and ransacked. He reported his Apple AirPods Pro had been stolen but were connected to his iPhone, and the GPS location showed them to be in Sharp County. The neighbor also stated his roommates’ vehicles were broken into. A pair of headphones was stolen from one vehicle, and nearly $50 in cash were taken from another.

The investigator reportedly contacted Hardy Police Chief Scott Rose, advised him of the investigation and requested his agency secure the residence where they believed the stolen merchandise might be located. The investigator then traveled to a residence on Gwaltney Road in Hardy with a search warrant and met with Chief Rose, who had advised Dailey of her Miranda Rights.

Dailey reportedly retrieved the AirPods from the door pocket of her vehicle and confessed to breaking into the vehicle and stealing them. Chief Rose advised the investigator Dailey had confessed the firearm stolen out of Izard County was under the seat of the car along with another firearm that Dailey stated she “purchased.” Dailey also stated she didn’t know where exactly each vehicle she allegedly stole items from was located, but stated that she just drove around stealing things out of vehicles.

Chief Rose also reportedly said the vehicle matched the description of another vehicle break-in that had occurred in Hardy that same morning. Items were also found and believed to have been stolen in Fulton County.

Dailey is charged with 10 felony counts of breaking or entering, one felony count each of theft of property of a firearm and theft of property of a debit card and three misdemeanor counts of theft of items valued at less than $1,000.
