Google Is Planning To Launch a YouTube Streaming Infrastructure Called ‘Channel Store’

YouTube is preparing to launch a feature called the Channel Store.

The Channel Store feature will allow the platform to expand its reach and become a video-streaming infrastructure.

Google is reported to be working on a feature that may soon let users subscribe to alternative streaming services through a YouTube "channel store," following in the footsteps of Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.

YouTube is preparing to create an online store for streaming video services and has renewed negotiations with entertainment companies about getting involved in the platform.

YouTube Channel Store

YouTube's newest feature is rumored to have been working on this for at least 18 months, and it is possible that the Channel Store, which is how it is known internally, might debut as soon as this fall.

Given that YouTube TV currently possesses this functionality for HBO, AMC+, Showtime, and a number of other services, this is an unexpectedly significant period of development time.

According to 9to5Google, this massive streaming service will only be available in the United States. However, it is likely that YouTube has its sights set on a more widespread launch.

YouTube's huge scale across the world has become a major selling point for the website to potential partners. This comes after YouTube completely redesigned its movie viewing experience not long ago.

Consumers would be able to see trailers for series or movies for free on YouTube, and then they would easily be able to pay to subscribe to the streaming service after watching the trailers on YouTube. This is the pitch that is being used to sell the new YouTube channel store.

In the meantime, discussions on the agreement are still ongoing. The report adds, "YouTube is discussing splitting subscription revenue with streaming partners, although the terms may vary widely for each partner."

The convenience and reliability of Google's video-streaming infrastructure is one of the primary advantages of subscribing through YouTube's channel store. It is generally agreed that YouTube offers the best and most reliable video player.

Having said that, there is likely to be an excessive amount of competition within the mobile app.

According to EuroNews, "With more consumers cutting the cord on cable or satellite TV and shifting to subscription-based streaming services, the planned launch will allow YouTube to join companies like Roku Inc. and Apple in a bid to gain a portion of the already crowded streaming market."

YouTube's New Features

YouTube recently launched a new feature from its partnership with Spotify. According to iTechPost, YouTube released additional shopping features that would benefit both the viewers and the creators.

The company's partnership with Shopify will allow creators to connect their Shopify stores to their respective YouTube channels as long as they meet the requirements.

In this way, it will be easier and more efficient for content creators, and their online retail platforms will be promoted to their targeted audience.

The ability to connect a creator's Shopify store to their YouTube channel will be provided. Creators will be able to benefit from Shopify's real-time inventory syncing function due to this partnership. This will make it easier for retailers to know which items are in stock and which are out of stock.

This feature has only been launched to consumers in the United States for now. With its partnership with Shopify, YouTube is improving its shopping capabilities.
