SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A 2-alarm fire broke out at a San Jose apartment complex on Friday afternoon after a driver crashed into the building striking a gas meter.

SKY7 was over the scene in the 5600 block of Calmor Court as crews worked to douse the flames.

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) was called to the scene to secure the gas line after the fire spread into the attic of the two-story, four-unit building.

As crews were working to contain the flames, a firefighter was injured when a car tire exploded. They were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

San Jose fire officials say the incident is under control as of 8:30 p.m. Friday.
