A facility in Greenup County, Kentucky that manufactures packaging materials will be closing its doors later this year. The closure is expected to affect about 80 employees.
Pregis company officials cited the discontinuation of manufacturing materials for the closing of its Wurtland facility in a news release.
The news release stated the “discontinuation of a key ingredient to manufacture polypropylene foam material” is the main cause of the closure “despite exhaustive efforts to find a suitable replacement for the manufacturing component.”
Company officials report the Wurtland facility that opened in 1995 only produces one product.
The discontinued product line has company officials working to help employees find new employment opportunities.
Pregis operates more than 30 facilities in North America, including a Hopkinsville, Kentucky location.
