Court records said two men face charges in Jackson County after they allegedly stole aluminum cans at a business, and the owner of the property followed the suspects’ vehicle until a deputy could arrive.
Erwin Winford Page, 53, of Charleston and Benjie K. Parsons, 45, of Kenna were arrested Thursday after a reported theft at Valley Stone in Millwood, according to a criminal complaint filed in Jackson County Magistrate Court.
A caller reported the suspects were stealing metal. According to the complaint, the victim followed the suspects off his property and found them on Route 62 and stayed behind their vehicle until the deputy could arrive.
The deputy found the suspects’ vehicle on Route 62 and stopped it just outside of Ripley city limits.
In the bed of the truck, 12 blocks of aluminum cans were found that the owner valued at more than $1,000, the complaint said.
The victim reported the theft of the cans had been going on for three days, and he estimated his loss at about $10,000 to $15,000.
A clear bag containing a white crystal substance was located beside the passenger side of the vehicle, the complaint said.
Page and Parsons were charged with grand larceny and conspiracy and were transported to the South Central Regional Jail.
