The $4 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “100X The Money” instant ticket game has been claimed, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery. But we still don’t know the winner.

The prize was claimed by the Wolverine Nominee Trust of Quincy, according to the lottery. The trust, represented by trustee David Spillane, chose to receive the prize in a one-time payment of $2,600,000 before taxes.

The winner purchased the ticket at Old Gold Convenience Store, which is located at 326 Union St. in Franklin. Old Gold will be also receiving a $40,000 bonus for selling the ticket, the lottery stated.

Usually, the names of lottery winners in Massachusetts are required to be publicly available, but there are ways winners can still be anonymous.

“One of the most frequent pieces of advice new lottery winners get from others is to try as hard as possible to remain anonymous,” Baker Law Group, a law firm that assists in handling lottery winners’ money, said on their website. “If your name and photograph is published, there’s a strong chance you could find yourself quickly harassed with calls and requests for money.”

Massachusetts allows lottery winners to create trusts. Trustees are then able to collect and deposit lottery checks into a bank account set up for the beneficiaries.

However, all the members of the trust are required to be identified by the lottery for its internal records. The lottery then runs the names of those in a trust past several state agencies to see if they own any state money, such as child support, taxes or Mass Health payments. If they do, then the amount owed is taken from the lottery winnings.

Two $15 million winners also received their winnings through trusts this year.

On March 31, the P.M. Investment Trust of Fall River, which was represented by trustee Joseph H. Silvia, claimed the $15 million prize in a one-time payment of $9,750,000. Silvia was then presented with a check for $6,922,500.

And in July, the Bonzo Family Revocable Trust 2022 of Cranston, Rhode Island claimed the first $15 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “15,000,000 Money Maker” instant ticket game. The trust was represented by trustee Stephen Levesque, Esq.
