“It’s terrible and very difficult to imagine”
What seemed to be a normal summer night at the Hilltop apartments in Edwardsville, quickly changed when gun shots rang out.
Roosevelt street in Edwardsville was the scene of a shooting last night that left at least one person injured.
According to our newsgathering partners at the Times Leader, Wilkes-Barre Sgt. Joseph Mangan said someone who may have been injured in the Edwardsville incident then made their way to South Grant Street but was not around when law enforcement arrived.
One eyewitness family explained to me that they were just sitting outside, enjoying the night when they heard the gun shots go off. Their immediate instinct was to run into their apartment and hide until law enforcement arrived.
Many in the area woke up to the news of the shooting and feel that they now need to take more precautions, with shootings becoming an occurrence in the area.
“Be aware more, take safety precautions, keep your doors locked, your cellar doors locked, your attic door locked” says Dino Angelo Magli of Edwardsville.
In the neighboring borough of Larksville, Rebecca Stylinski says that to hear of shootings happening in the community is a scary thing, especially since she takes public transportation or walks places.
“I personally do not drive, so I walk a lot of places, which leaves me personally, unprotected that is terrifying because it means you cant even go outside of your house for a walk” says Stylinski.
More individuals I spoke to say that the complex is very nice during the day but can be unsafe during evenings and nights.
