Discussion:
Southerly winds are cranking this afternoon bringing in heat and moisture from the south. Skies are partly cloudy across our state and these conditions will prevail through the evening into the overnight.
Expect a steady breeze out of the south/southwest around 10mph with lows falling into the lower70s. On Saturday, a weak cold front will pass through the state. Temperatures will still heat up substantially even with the frontal passage with highs reaching the lower 90s.
There will be passing clouds and a few isolated showers possible during the morning hours. Slightly cooler temperatures arrive Saturday night with lows falling into the mid 60s and partly cloudy skies continuing.
As we head into next week, the large scale weather pattern will remain with northwest flow aloft with periodic disturbances passing through our region bringing intermittent rain chances. As of now, the prominent days and times for rain look to be Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning over Central and Southwest parts of Iowa and another chance next Thursday into Friday. Temperatures will be closer to average as well with highs generally in the low to mid 80s!
