It’s not exactly a title someone would be excited to have.

New data has shown that Pennsylvania is the state that receives the most spam calls in the U.S.

Conducted and published by Time2play, the study surveyed adults across the country to see just how much we’re badgered by such calls on a regular basis. The respondent pool was almost evenly split between both iPhone and Android users.

The study’s final results revealed how Pennsylvanians tend to get spam calls more often than people in other states with an average of 4.4 calls per day.

The state with the second-most spam calls in the nation was New Jersey with a daily average of 4.3, and then Texas in third with 4.1

“We’re a divided nation. Key issues such as which is the correct way to hang the toilet paper or whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich will likely never be fully resolved,” reads the study. “But occasionally, a matter exists that’s so infuriating, it miraculously unites us all.

“The most recent of those issues is the rash of scammers calling and texting at every hour of the day. Whether they’re calling to warn us of our car’s expiring warrant or valiantly letting us know our car’s expiring warranty or valiantly letting us know our copy of Microsoft Windows has been compromised, we can’t hang up these crooks fast enough.”

The study also concluded that the nationwide average was 3.7 spam calls per day.

Additionally, spammers appear to prefer calling over texting (although who hasn’t gotten a message about one’s “bank account” these days?) , which, by consequence, has cause about 91 percent of those surveyed to not pick up their phones if they get a call from an unknown number.
