We had some cold temperatures this morning in the classic cold locations in Michigan.
The National Weather Service at Marquette reported there was some frost on the roofs around National Mine, MI this morning. National Mine is about 15 miles southwest of Marquette, MI.
Here are the temperatures at 7:00 a.m. this morning. The light blue areas on the map had temperatures around 35 degrees. Frost normally occurs in a scattered nature when thermometers read 35 degrees. It takes 32 degrees to produce frost. Temperatures can easily vary three degrees from 35 degree official temperature readings.
Inland areas of northern and central Lower Michigan also dropped into the upper-30s. Leota is a perennial cold spot along the Muskegon River northwest of Harrison. The National Weather Service at Grand Rapids reports Leota dropped to 36 degrees this morning.
Spotty frost at inland areas of the Upper Peninsula right now is not too out of the historical norm. So don’t get too worried or excited that fall is coming early.
