AUSTIN (KXAN) — A low-pressure system that developed over the Gulf of Mexico moved into South Texas Sunday morning bringing widespread rain to some areas, but only spotty showers here.

As of 10 p.m. Sunday, the National Hurricane Center gives the tropical low a 0% chance of further development. Now that the storm is over land it will gradually weaken as it heads west.

Sunday’s updated computer model tracks continue to take this storm westward and out of Texas and into Mexico by Monday.

Rainfall projections

5-10 inches of rain fell on portions of South Texas on Sunday and some additional wet weather will continue to fall through Monday and into early Tuesday for southern parts of the state.

While South Texas is not as deep into drought as we are in Central Texas, most of the area is still in drought and could use some of this beneficial rain.

What about Central Texas?

Some spotty showers and storms fell during the day on Sunday in Central Texas, but only a few hundredths of an inch of rainfall was measured in parts of the area.

Limited (10% or lower) rainfall chances will stick around on Monday before drier, sunnier and hotter weather returns.
