HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Huntington announced Monday temporary lane closures which have been scheduled for next week.
The short-term changes, which will affect the southbound lanes of 20th Street between Third and Fifth Avenues, have been scheduled to coincide with Marshall University’s freshman move-in day.
Heavy pedestrian traffic is anticipated in the area per the Marshall University Police Department.
These closures are set to take place from 7:00am to 5:00pm on both Monday, August 16 and Tuesday, August 17.
Along with the scheduled lane closures, a temporary speed limit change has been announced on 3rd and 5th Avenues between 6th and 20th Street, which will bring the speed limit to 25 mph for a time.
These changes will not impact northbound lanes of 20th Street, and those who will require alternate southbound routes have been encouraged to utilize 16th Street or 24th Street.
It had been asked that drivers throughout the area exercise caution as students return to campus for the upcoming fall semester.
