Charleston police have released more details on an overnight shooting in which a person was shot multiple times.
Zion Mitchell, 22, of Gastonia, N.C., was shot in the head, neck and bicep during an incident in the 1700 block of Washington Street West overnight, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department.
Police said Mitchell was sitting in the passenger side of a vehicle waiting to meet someone in a parking lot about midnight when an unknown suspect wearing dark clothing and a mask approached the vehicle and fired multiple shots.
The driver of the vehicle Mitchell was in fled the area following the shooting and flagged down officers near Stockton Street and Washington Street West, the news release said.
Mitchell was taken to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Kanawha County dispatchers said one person was injured in a shooting just before midnight near Stockton Street and Washington Street West.
