LC Tourist Commission to be represented at state fair; transient taxes collected

The Lake Cumberland Tourist Commission collected $23,017.90 in transient tax in June, finishing the 2021-22 fiscal year with just under $160,000 in such taxes collected by the local tourist commission.

Those numbers were released at a special called meeting of the commission on Thursday afternoon, where Tourism Director Danielle Wilson said the fiscal court held the first reading of an amended ordinance this week that would allow the commission to collect a 3 percent tax now on VRBO businesses, rent by owner sites, RV parks, campgrounds, and possibly even houseboats, although the latter still remains unclear. The second reading of the amended ordinance is expected to be read and passed by the fiscal court in September.
