The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Y.M.C.A is working with the Department of Animal Sciences to decrease trash in the area and save you money.
The organizations are accepting unwanted items such as furniture, clothes, and small kitchen appliances in your home for their annual "Dump N Run" to decrease waste in the area.
And hopefully, re-sell the items for as low as $1 to families and students struggling to purchase much-needed goods.
"That old items are just going to fill up and in some cases it pollutes water streams and the environment," said Marc Alexander, the University YMCA Director of Development and Membership. "It's just a huge waste problem in general across the country, and we're able to help a little bit by saving a few items out of that stream in our area.
Those interested can drop off items Friday, August 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturday, August 13th 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The big sale will be on August 20 and August 21.
