Bomb Threat Reported at University of South Dakota

Vermillion Police Department says that a bomb threat was reported today regarding a suspicious device in the Lee Medical building on the University of South Dakota campus in Vermillion.

The University Police Department, Vermillion Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Vermillion Fire EMS Department quickly began an evacuation and searched the building.

 Local authorities say that they determined the bomb threat was not credible, and the university informed campus that the building was cleared and safe to return to.

The Vermillion Police Department and University Police Department are working to investigate the threat. The initial investigation shows the hoax threat is similar to the multiple threats that have been called into higher education institutions over the past year.
