John Dudley Warren Sr., 95, of Shenandoah, passed away August 8, 2022 at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg. He was born February 1, 1927 in Ivor South Hampton County, Virginia to the late Willie Warren and Isabelle Story Warren.

John was the last surviving member of his family. He served in the United States Army from 1946-1949. He was a member of the Shenandoah Baptist Church and Avis O. Comer VFW Post 8613 in Shenandoah. He also served on the Shenandoah Town Council from 1992 to 1996. 

John worked at Snyder Plumbing and Heating, but retired from Cline Energy, Inc. After retirement, he worked for Southern States in Luray, in the warehouse until he was diagnosed with colon cancer at 83. He is known as the man in “the little blue truck” in town. He always said “remember you live every day, but you only die once.”

On February 1, 1951 he married Joyce Gail Smith Warren, who survives. He is further survived by son, John Warren Jr.; daughter, Sharon K. Warren White and husband, Dave; a grandson, Gavin M. Warren and wife, Deseray.

All services are private.
