Second District Adair County Commissioner Mark Thompson is facing two misdemeanor counts involving two separate alleged thefts of political campaign signs.
On Wednesday, Judge Corey Ray Moon heard Thompson's request for a change of venue in one of those cases.
The request was granted, and that case will now be heard in Lewis County.
The next hearing in that case will be Oct. 3, 2022.
Thompson is also scheduled to appear before Judge Thomas Redington in Adair County on Aug. 25, 2022, regarding the second sign theft case.
Adair County Associate Circuit Judge Kristie Swaim recused herself from both cases.
Adair County Prosecutor David Goring also stepped down due to a conflict of interest.
Sullivan County Prosecuting Attorney Brian Keedy was appointed special prosecutor for both cases.
Thompson is accused of stealing two separate political campaign yard signs belonging to Adair County Presiding Commissioner Mark Shahan, who just won re-election last week.
Thompson was not up for re-election this year.
