ROCK VALLEY—A 30-year-old Rock Valley man was arrested about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, on charges of first-offense domestic abuse assault, disorderly conduct — fighting/violent behavior, and public intoxication.

The arrest of Bradley Alan Vande Griend stemmed from an argument with a household member, according to the Rock Valley Police Department.

Vande Griend allegedly punched the other individual in the chest area, knocking the individual to the ground inside the residence at 1021 17th Ave.

Vande Griend then rode away from the residence on a bicycle on the street but returned as an officer was talking to the other individual.

Vande Griend “was screaming and yelling profanity as he approached aggressively,” according to the incident report, and “threw his bike in the vicinity of the officer in an aggressive manner.”

He also said he wanted to fight the officer.

The odor of alcohol was detected on Vande Griend.
