A man in Gallia County, Ohio, temporarily barricaded himself in his home when law enforcement officers were attempting to execute an arrest warrant Thursday, deputies said.
Joseph W. Lewis, 36, of Cheshire, Ohio, was taken into custody after a barricade situation along Africa Road in Cheshire Township, according to a news release from the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office. He was wanted for allegedly violating the conditions of his parole.
While deputies and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service were attempting to take Lewis into custody Thursday morning, they said he barricaded himself in his home where he was suspected to have weapons inside.
After negotiations, deputies said Lewis surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.
The sheriff’s office said it seized a “sizable amount” of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl during the incident and another person, Christina McKinster, 36, of Cheshire was also arrested.
McKinster was wanted for outstanding felony indictments, the news release said.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
