Wednesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center in reference to an assault report. Officers met with the victim, and gathered details about the incident. A suspect was located and after conversing with them, they were placed under arrest. Gregg Bernard Cravens, 74, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending charges of Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree.


Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of East 16th Street and South Hancock Avenue Wednesday evening. The driver of the vehicle was known to have an active Pettis County warrant for their arrest. Melissa D. Cartmill, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Cartmill was booked on a felony Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with a current bond of $50,000 cash or surety.


 

Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Menard's store, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue, for a report of stealing. When Officers arrived, they made contact with staff. Staff stated they were with a suspect in the Manager's Office. Staff stated they observed the suspect take $105.82 worth of merchandise, conceal it, and attempt to leave without paying for it. Officers took Mark A. Brookfelt, 28, of Tipton, into custody and transported him to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on charges of Burglary in the 2nd Degree. Brookfelt was placed on a 24 hour hold.


 

Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of theft Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the complainant. They stated a male suspect entered the store and selected $814.41 worth of merchandise, and then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. The suspect was identified, and charges were submitted to the Prosecutor.


 

Wednesday morning, Officers were referred by the Department of Social Services Children's Division in regards to an alleged sexual abuse case. The case, in the 32000 block of Ringen School Road, was found outside of Sedalia's jurisdiction. An assist agency report was completed for the incident.


 

On the afternoon of August 7th, Officers were dispatched to the Dollar General, 713 East Broadway Boulevard, for a report of a hit and run accident involving a parked motor vehicle. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Geraldine Y. Sumners, the owner of the parked vehicle. Sumners stated that she was shopping in the store when she was notified by an employee that someone backed into her vehicle and left the scene. There was visible damage on the rear bumper of the parked vehicle. Officers took photos of the damage. Next, Officers spoke with a witness. She stated she observed vehicle #1 back into the parked vehicle, (#2), then drove away from the scene. The witness took a photo of the vehicle (vehicle #1) and sent it to Officers by email. Officers attached the photo of the vehicle, but it has not been located yet for further investigation.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 300 block of West Main Street for an alarm call. Upon arrival, Officers identified a subject that was highly intoxicated and wanted to be transported to the hospital. The subject, unnamed in the report, was later transported by EMS to the hospital. The subject's bicycle was transported to the Police Department for safekeeping.
