Starting next Wednesday, all eligible households in Champaign County can begin making appointments to apply for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
New this year, is the Regional Planning Commission is opening a new office for LIHEAP appointments inside the Rantoul Business Center.
The Champaign and Urbana offices will also be available.
“This year we are very excited about the opening of a new office in Rantoul, which will make appointments more convenient for Rantoul residents when they begin on September 1,” says Dawn Rear, the RPC’s LIHEAP Program Manager. “We have also made it easier to make those appointments, thanks to the scheduling tool found on our website. We urge Champaign County residents to make their appointments as soon as possible and get the help they need for the upcoming winter weather.”
The actual appointments to apply for LIHEAP will then begin on Thursday, Sept. 1 at all three locations.
The best way to start the LIHEAP process is to schedule an appointment online at www.ccrpc.org/liheap starting on August 17. Individuals can also call 217-384-1226 to schedule an appointment or if they have any questions about the application process.
