An accused intoxicated man has been arrested after crashing into a Dollar Store just outside of Glasgow.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Glasgow Police Department responded to the business on Scottsville Road in the Haywood community, about four miles southwest of Glasgow.

(Glasgow officers responded because Barren County deputies were on another call and not available.)

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered 32-year-old James D. Storms III, of Glasgow, had struck the rear of a vehicle, causing Storms to lose control of his truck and travel through a field before hitting the Dollar Store, according to a report by WCLU.com.

Glasgow police told the news outlets that the metal siding on one side of the store collapsed, damaging multiple freezers. No injuries, though, were reported.

Storms emitted an odor of alcohol and displayed blood shot, watery eyes. His blood alcohol level was later determined to be over three times the legal limit to drive, WCLU.com reports.

He was charged with DUI (aggravating circumstances) and first-degree criminal mischief among non-moving violations.

Storms being held in the Barren County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
