Russeller Polk, 46, was sentenced to 122 months in prison, (or, 10 years and two months). He pleaded guilty on June 29, 2022, to one count of leaving the scene of an accident, and a misdemeanor count of vehicular homicide.

On March 31, 2020, deputies arrived on the scene of a vehicle fire near Valley Center.  After the fire was extinguished, they found a body inside the vehicle.  The vehicles owner told investigators that Polk had been driving the vehicle.  Polk admitted he had been drinking when he wrecked the vehicle and it caught fire.

Polk said he attempted to pull his friend out, but he would not move. He said he saw the truck explode which prompted him to ran to another friend’s house nearby.

He was arrested on April 1, 2020.  Records show that Polk has four separate DUI convictions.
