The Pittsburgh Steelers took a gamble on wide receiver George Pickens.
The former Georgia standout missed most of his junior season due to an ACL injury.
He came back to play in their final four games and caught a touchdown pass against Alabama during the National Championship Game.
That catch was only one of five he had all season.
However, that grab was enough to hear his name in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, making him one of the 15 former Bulldogs selected in that draft.
The Steelers eventually signed him to a four-year, $6.7 million deal which includes a $2 million signing bonus.
He is set to earn $705,000 in his first year and $1 million in year two.
His salaries go to $1.3 million in year three and $1.6 million in year four.
But it won’t be long before he earns the big bucks, especially if he continues his dominant training camp into the regular season.
The tweet reads, “Rookie WR George Pickens continues to dominate at Steelers training camp. Another TD for him and this one in the MOF at that.”
Remember, Pickens is 6-foot-3 and his height allows him to lord over defensive backs.
In this sequence, he was able to divide the field before making the catch.
A Promising Receiver Trio In Pittsburgh
If he does well during the games that matter, the Steelers will be difficult to stop.
They already have Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson field balls from their quarterback.
Then there’s Najee Harris who could also be a threat as a pass-catcher.
Throwing Pickens into the mix will add more wrinkles to their offense.
That’s a recipe for disaster for their opponents throughout the regular season.
