West Hartford, Conn.(WTIC Radio)-An East Hartford man faces assault charges for striking a DOT employee, State Police said.

The Incident happened just before midnight Tuesday, on I-84 Westbound, in the area of Exit 41. State Police said driver Luis Moreno, 31, entered
 a construction zone. When the employee asked Moreno to exit the active construction pattern, State Police said Moreno got out of his vehicle and struck the employee in the face. Moreno then returned to his vehicle and left the scene.

The DOT worked was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released.

Moreno faces assault and breach of peace charges. He's scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court August 29th.
