Police have not yet been able to locate 35-year-old Youit DeWitt Jones. Jones is a person of interest in the case of a body found inside a burning abandoned house in the Ensley neighborhood of Birmingham Tuesday morning.
Birmingham Police said Jones should be considered armed and dangerous. He is described as bald, six feet tall and 185 pounds.
ABC 33/40 found numerous addresses for Youit DeWitt Jones in the Birmingham area.
Officers arrested Jones on August 6th in Autauga County. Court records show he was charged with attempting to elude, reckless driving and other traffic violations. Jones bonded out of jail the next day, on August 7th.
Court documents showed that Jones has had multiple run-ins with law enforcement. His extensive record dates back to 2008. Charges include forgery, robbery, theft and numerous charges for drug possession.
Jones pleaded guilty to arson second degree in Jefferson County in January 2016. He was sentenced to ten years split time served.
