St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey Announces Newcomers for 2022-23 Season

SCSU adds seven athletes, including Nashville Predators draft pick Adam Ingram
"We are extremely excited to add this talented group to our locker room," said head coach Brett Larson. "Each student-athlete brings a unique skill set which will benefit our team on the ice, and will represent our Husky program in a high-class manner off the ice. We can't wait to get them on campus and continue preparation for our upcoming season."
Grant Ahcan – F – 5'10" – 160 – Savage, Minn. – Cedar Rapids (USHL)
Grant Ahcan, the younger brother of former Husky captain Jack Ahcan, joins the Huskies after two seasons of junior hockey, as he spent the 2020-21 season with the Bismarck Bobcats of the NAHL and the 2021-22 season with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the USHL. The 5-foot-10 forward posted 16 points (nine goals / seven assists) and a +3 mark in 45 games in Bismarck, and 25 points (12 goals / 13 assists) in 61 games in Cedar Rapids. Prior to junior hockey, Ahcan played for three seasons at Burnsville High School, where he tallied 25 goals and 43 assists for 68 points in 68 games.

Ethan AuCoin – F – 6'1" – 170 – Calgary, Alberta – Lloydminster (AJHL)
Ethan AuCoin, one of the top goal scorers in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), joins the St. Cloud State program after a highly impressive 2021-22 campaign with the Lloydminster Bobcats. This past season, the Calgary, Alberta native posted 36 goals and 27 assists for 63 points while leading the Bobcats to the playoffs. AuCoin's 36 goals ranked fifth in the AJHL, while his 63 points ranked 15th. This past season was his first full season of junior hockey after limited action in 2020-21 due to the pandemic. Prior to junior hockey, AuCoin played for the Calgary Northstars U18 AAA team, where he scored 29 goals in 38 games.

James Gray – G – 6'2" – 190 – Toronto, Ontario – North York (OJHL)
James Gray joins the Huskies after being named the Ontario Junior Hockey League Goaltender of the Year in 2021-22. Playing for the North York Rangers in Toronto, Gray led the league in wins (25), save percentage (.931) and goals-against-average (1.96) in 36 games. Gray helped lead North York to the playoffs, where he posted a 2-2 mark in a .934 save percentage and a 1.91 GAA. Before North York, Gray played for the Toronto Nationals U-18 team that won the Telus Cup, which is the Canadian national championship. Gray earned the MVP that season after posting a .947 save percentage and a 1.68 GAA.

Adam Ingram – F – 6'1" – 175 – West St. Paul, Manitoba – Youngstown (USHL)
Nashville Predators draft pick Adam Ingram joins the Huskies after a breakout season with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL. This past season, Ingram scored 55 points (26 goals / 29 assists) with a +10 mark while leading the team Phantoms to the playoffs. His 26 goals (T-18th), 55 points (24th), eight power play goals (T-16th) and 16 power play assists (T-17th) all ranked in the top-25 among the USHL.
In June, Nashville selected Ingram in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, making him the 69th Husky to be selected since the inauguration of the NHL Draft in 1986.

Mason Reiners – D – 6'1" – 195 – Edina, Minn. – Waterloo (USHL)
Mason Reiners, a former Edina Hornet, joins Husky Hockey after four seasons with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL. From 2018-22, the 6-foot-1 defenseman recorded 42 points (seven goals / 35 assists) in 145 games. This past season, Reiners scored a career-best four goals with 10 assists for 14 points while leading the team to the playoffs. Reiners played three varsity seasons for Edina, where he helped the Hornets win the 2019 Class AA state title and take third place in 2018.

Jack Rogers – F – 6'1" – 190 – East Northport, N.Y. – Steinbach (MJHL)
Jack Rogers joins the St. Cloud State program after a season with the Elmira Junior Enforcers of the USPHL Premier League in 2020-21 and the Steinbach Pistons of the MJHL in 2021-22. With Elmira, the East Northport, N.Y., native scored 18 goals and 29 assists for 47 points in 39 games, while he scored 30 goals and 37 assists for 67 points in 54 games with Steinbach. In 18 playoff games for the Pistons, Rogers scored four points and nine assists for 13 points.

Cooper Wylie – D – 6'1" – 190 – Stillwater, Minn. – Waterloo (USHL)
A Stillwater, Minn., Cooper Wylie joins the Huskies after two seasons with the Waterloo Black Hawks. From 2020-22, Wylie scored eight goals and 37 assists for 45 points in 99 games, including a mark of six goals and 21 assists for 27 points this past season. Prior to junior hockey, Wylie played for three seasons at Stillwater High School, where he scored 17 goals and 42 assists for 59 points in 71 games.
